First Kiss...
Bella reaches over and squeezes my arm. All the emotions from this summer come to a head. I’ve been preparing myself for this moment. This is the moment when I’ll finally make my move. She’s been sending signals all summer, and after a lot of discussion with my sister, I’m convinced that I’m not making this up in my head, and Bella does like me.
“Can you believe we’re about to go to college?” Bella’s blue-gray eyes softly focus on mine.
She’s drunk. Hell, I’m drunk too. The hand that’s on my arm slowly starts to move back and forth. Her eyes connect with mine.
I shake my head. “No, the summer’s gone by fast. Good fast,” I smile.
She giggles, sinking into the couch, continuing to stare at me. “Sooooooo fast. I think it flew by because we’ve had so much fun.”
Her gaze deepens, and I mimic her body language, sliding into the cushions to face her. Her eyes are always boring into me. She always seems to be asking me a question with those eyes of hers. I brave myself to do the one thing I’ve been dreaming about doing for a long time, show Bella how I feel about her.
I look down at the hand that’s resting on my forearm. Her blush pink fingertips trail designs in the hair there. I swallow down the fear and begin to lean in. This is it. This is the moment I’ve replayed a thousand times in my head. I lick my lips. The party in the background fades away, and all I can think about is her—and me—and us. She smiles and tilts her head to the side. I lean in further, an inch from her lips. She smells like punch—like a sweet, luscious strawberry. Her eyes fix on my lips, and this is the exact sign my sister told me would be a go.
