“Is everything okay?” I ask.
“That was a really good kiss, Rusty.”
I smile. Am I a good kisser and didn’t know it? Maybe you have to be kissing the right person for it to feel right?
“You made it good,” I reply.
“Should we go back to the group?” Her cheeks are red.
I shake my head. “Fuck them.”
She laughs and goes to cover her mouth, then she pulls it away.
“Oh, I forgot I’m not doing that anymore.”
I lean down and kiss her again, sweeping my tongue over her bottom lip. My arms wrap around her, and the thumping from the bass is beating in tune with my heart.
She kisses me back. Sometime after my lips feel numb, she lets go, breaking away from me. “Come on,” she says. “Now we’re going to be the gossip of the evening.”
I laugh. I forgot that we were in a crowded bar with our friends.
I follow her and can’t help but feel drunk. Not on the drinks, but on her.
